Taro Root Fry (Arvi / Chema dumpa fry)

This Taro root fry tastes delicious as a side dish when served with Plain rice or Dal/Rasam/Sambhar or with Curd rice. You can even them eat as Chips!

We had them in lunch as well as dinner with plain gheed rice along with 'Kakarakaya Fry'.

Ingredients:

Taro roots
Sambhar powder
Red chilli powder
Oil
Salt

Method:

  • Boil Taro roots in water and drain them when they are done.
  • Peel them when they warm to touch.
  • Cut them length wise.
  • Marinate them for 1/2 hr. in Sambhar pow, chilli pow and salt. If needed sprinkle just a little water/oil to mix them evenly.
  • Fry them on a hot oiled skillet in batches and serve when they are hot and crispy.
PS: Be careful while boiling Taro roots because they will be done in mins. Make sure they are not mushy soft.

My husband makes these often and they're really good! Good recipe. He'd be glad to know he uses the similar ingredients. :-)
